January Environmental Horticulture Program

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental Horticulture program for January 2026. This program is being offered by Environmental Horticulture Agent Cynthia Nazario-Leary and Master Gardener volunteers.

The Spring Vegetable Garden – Jan. 13, 2026, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the Alachua County Ag Auditorium (22716 W. Newberry Road, Newberry).

A thriving vegetable garden begins with thoughtful planning and preparation. This class is designed to help North Florida residents understand the essential steps for creating a productive garden at home—from site selection and soil testing to choosing the right varieties for our region.

Participants will explore best practices for seeds and transplants, raised bed design and use, and strategies for timing planting and harvesting to ensure success throughout the season. Preparing now is key to enjoying a bountiful spring harvest.

There is no registration fee, but participants must register online. It is limited to 100 participants.
