July Commercial Horticulture Programs

​The University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Science (UF/IFAS) Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Programs for July 2021. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent.

2021 Virtual Grape Field Day – July 14, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.

Receive the latest updates on vineyard management from multiple speakers from Florida to North Carolina. Continued Education Units for pesticide license renewal are available (see categories listed below).

Registration is free and the program will be presented as a Zoom webinar. Complete the Zoom registration that will be emailed to you after your Eventbrite purchase. For agenda and registration information, please visit UF/IFAS grape website.

Up to 3 Continued Education Units (CEUs) will be available in the following categories: Demonstration and Research (1), AG Row Crops Pest Control (2), Private Applicator (2), and AG Tree Crops Pest Control (2).

Thriving Landscapes - License Renewal Workshop – July 23, from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the University of Florida, Fifield Hall Building (2550 Hull Road, Gainesville FL 32611, across from the new Florida baseball ballpark) and at the Arboriculture Teaching Lab (2977 S.W. 23rd Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32608)

This workshop will cover a quick review of pesticide safety and core concepts with a focus on trees and shrubs as part of the landscape. A hands-on section will go over the best management practices for tree installment, pruning and overall tree care and maintenance in the landscape. Overall landscape plant health will also be covered in this training. In-classroom content will be covered on campus at Fifield Hall and hands-on portion will take place at the Arboriculture Teaching Lab. Please bring a hat for sun protection.  

Up to 4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for applicators that already have their licenses. The full list of CEU categories will be posted at the registration page three (3) weeks prior to the event.

Registration fee is $25.00 (covers printed and plant materials, CEU’s, class refreshments and parking passes). Participants must register online by July 19. The registration fee after July 19 or if paying at the door will be $35.00 (cash only). This workshop is limited to 20 participants. There will be no refunds for the registration fee.
