The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental and Community Horticulture programs for March 2021. These programs are being offered by Dr. Taylor Clem, Environmental and Community Horticulture Agent.
Growing Tomatoes in Alachua County – March 2, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.
Tomatoes can be grown successfully by many methods of culture: in baskets, in solution, on stakes, in the ground, mulched, unmulched or in a greenhouse. This class includes the basics of how to grow tomatoes in Florida’s challenging environment, including selection, managing pests, diseases, and disorders.
There is no registration fee, but participants must
register online. A confirmation email with instructions will be sent to registrants. This program is limited to 500 participants.
Attracting Wildlife to Your Garden – March 16, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.
A Master Gardener Volunteer will teach strategies and tips to attract wildlife to gardens. By following the tips learned in this program, participants will be able to create a beautiful garden that can become home to wildlife.
There is no registration fee, but participants must
register online. A confirmation email with instructions will be sent to registrants. This program is limited to 500 participants.
Florida-Friendly Landscape Design Series – March 24, 31, and April 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.
After completing this workshop series, participants will have a basic understanding of landscape design. Participants will begin designing their own landscape, and receive feedback from other professional landscape designers.
For the best experience of the program, please have a working microphone and camera to join in on Zoom discussions. Additionally, a survey/map of properties will allow participants to design their yard. Generic surveys will be available.
The registration fee is $15.00, and participants must
register online. This class is limited to 15 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fee.
