The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental Horticulture program for November 2025. This program is being offered by Environmental Horticulture Agent Cynthia Nazario-Leary and Master Gardener volunteers.
Propagation 102: Leftovers and Layering –– Nov. 12, 2025, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the Alachua County Ag Auditorium (22716 W. Newberry Road, Newberry).
Building on the foundation of Propagation 101, which focused on planting seeds and taking cuttings, this year’s presentation explores new and practical techniques. The first part will highlight how to repurpose common kitchen scraps—such as vegetable tops and herb cuttings—for propagation, emphasizing the theme “Grow it, don’t throw it.”
The presentation will also introduce layering, a method for propagating woody plants by encouraging roots to form on a still-attached stem. Live demonstrations will showcase each propagation method, providing practical tips and techniques you can use at home.
There is no registration fee, but participants must register online. It is limited to 100 participants.
