Public Works Announces Lane Closures on CR 225

Alachua County Public Works is issuing a traffic advisory concerning the temporary, planned closure of County Road 225. This closure is necessary to facilitate the next phase of the ongoing Northwest/Northeast 53rd Avenue project, which Watson Construction is currently executing.

To enhance traffic management and complete necessary infrastructure work, both southbound lanes of CR 225 will be closed just south of Northeast 55th Place for one week. The closure is scheduled from Monday, Dec. 8, through Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.

Northbound traffic on CR 225 will not be affected and will remain open throughout the closure.

Drivers can take the following detour routes when traveling southbound:

CR 225 to Waldo Road: Southbound traffic on CR 225 will turn left onto Northeast 55th Place to access Waldo Road.

CR 225 to Northeast 53rd Avenue (westbound): Southbound traffic on CR 225 will turn left onto Northeast 55th Place, continue to Waldo Road, turn right, and proceed south to connect with Northeast 53rd Avenue.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution, remain alert, follow posted detour signs and maintain safe speeds and following distances while traveling through the detour route. Motorists should anticipate delays and plan additional travel time during this construction period.
