The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office will host a Commercial Horticulture program in September 2025, led by agent Tatiana Sanchez-Jones.
Updates on Organic Vegetable Production Field Day will take place Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UF/IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit (2556 County Highway 318, Cit-ra).
The event will feature presentations from UF researchers on topics including whitefly management, pest control with mulches, strategies for improving soil health and nutrient cycling, and updates on organic vegetable production. Participants will also visit field plots, take part in hands-on learning stations, and network with growers and professionals over a complimentary lunch.
Because part of the program is outdoors, participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, bring a hat, and carry a water bottle. Anyone with food allergies should email tatiana.sanchez@ufl.edu by Sept. 22.
Up to 3.5 continuing education units (CEUs) are available in the following categories: General Standard Core (1), Private Applicator (2.5), Agricultural Row Crop Pest Control (2.5), and Demonstration and Research (2.5). Additional CEUs are available for Certified Crop Advisors (CCA) in nutrient management (0.5), integrated pest management (2.5), and crop management (0.5).
Registration is $5, which includes lunch. Participants must register online by Sept. 22. Space is limited to 50 participants, and registration fees are nonrefundable.
