Forward Focus: Eastern Alachua County’s Next Community Listening Session for the Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park Communities

The Alachua County Commission continues its community listening sessions for the Forward Focus initiative. The next session is on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Hall Chapel United Methodist Church (6025 SE County Road 234, Gainesville).

The Forward Focus initiative is designed to enhance quality of life, boost economic opportunities, and address community needs in eastern Alachua County. Following productive meetings in Hawthorne, Waldo, Micanopy, Monteocha, Island Grove/Cross Creek, and Melrose, the project team will hold an additional session this month, focusing on the Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park communities. All Alachua County residents, community leaders, and business owners are encouraged to attend, as this will be one of the Forward Focus Team’s final Community Listening Sessions in its first stage.

At each meeting, attendees learn more about the Forward Focus project goals and timeline. They can provide feedback that helps identify opportunities and needs in each area, as well as network with neighbors and local leaders. These community listening sessions are crucial for developing a comprehensive strategy to address the unique needs and aspirations of this region.

“We have found our community listening sessions to be extremely helpful in identifying opportunities across Eastern Alachua County,” said Missy Daniels, assistant county manager and Forward Focus Team lead. “Our upcoming Rochelle, Windsor, and Grove Park session excited us, and we encourage everyone to participate in these important conversations.”
