ALACHUA COUNTY, FL -Governor Ron DeSantis’ executive order 20-120 allows barbershops, hair salons, nail salons, & cosmetology specialty salons to be opened beginning Monday, May 11, 2020.
County Emergency Order 20-20 still applies, therefore customers and employees shall be masked. The following is the pertinent language from that order:
“Persons working in or visiting grocery stores, restaurants, retail facilities, pharmacies, construction sites, public transit vehicles, vehicles for hire, along with locations where social distancing measures are not possible, shall wear facial coverings as defined by the CDC.”
Concerning which businesses may open, the Governor’s orders states, “Holders of the following state-issued barber or cosmetology licenses may provide services at establishments that adopt appropriate social distancing and precautionary measures directed in Executive Order 20-120: Barber; Restricted Barber; Cosmetologist; Nail Specialist; Facial Specialist; Full Specialist; Hair Braider; Hair Wrapper; and Body Wrapper. These license holders are permitted to perform the barbering or cosmetology services as authorized by their respective licensor registration.”
