July Commercial Horticulture Program

lawnThe UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Program for July 2020. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent via Zoom.

Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) - July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Florida law states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a certificate from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. In order to receive this certificate, each commercial applicator must be trained in the GI-BMPs and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and the Department of Environmental Protection. Continued Education Units (CEU’s) will be awarded.

The registration fee is $10.00. Participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402) by July 23. There are no refunds for the registration fee. This fee includes access to materials and CEU’s. Participants must complete the Zoom registration (that will be emailed after tickets are purchased) to have access to the zoom meeting. The link to the event and password will be emailed to all participants after the zoom registration is completed. A separate fee of $15 is necessary to have access to the online GI-BMP certification test. Instructions will be provided after zoom registration is completed. Those who are only attending for CEU’s do not need to pay this fee or take the test.

Participants do not need a microphone or webcam to participate. Practice questions will be sent out at random intervals for participants to answer (to ensure participants are still in attendance). Failure to answer may result in not getting CEUs.
