The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture program for July 2025. This program is being offered by Commercial Horticulture Agent Tatiana Sanchez-Jones.
Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Training – July 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Putnam County Extension Office (111 Yelvington Road, Suite 1, East Palatka) with Horticulture Extension Agent Julio Perez, of UF/IFAS Putnam County Extension.
Florida law requires all commercial fertilizer applicators to hold a certificate issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). To get this certificate, each commercial applicator must be trained in the Green Industries Best Management Practices and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
The GI-BMP training is valid for two Core Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and two additional CEUs for the following licenses: Private Applicator - Agriculture, Ornamental & Turf, Limited Lawn & Ornamental, Limited Landscape Maintenance, Commercial Lawn and Ornamental, and Limited Urban Fertilizer.
The registration fee of $30.00 (plus $3.85 Eventbrite fee) will include lunch. Participants must register online by July 18. The class is subject to cancellation unless a minimum number of attendees are registered. Cancellations will be posted on Eventbrite, and an email will be sent to registrants. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable.
