Visit Gainesville, Alachua County Meeting
Recently, more than 100 tourism stakeholders gathered at a workshop hosted by Visit Gainesville, Alachua County, and the Tourist Development Council.
The diverse and highly engaged participants included representatives from Gainesville’s cultural, sports, arts, and tourism industries and all nine Alachua County municipalities. The group brainstormed best practices, innovative ideas, ways to collaborate to attract a variety of visitors, increase daily visitor expenditures, and position the Gainesville/Alachua County region as the natural and cultural oasis of North Central Florida. * $10.3 million in tourism-related sales tax revenue which supports services to our citizens in the County and all of our municipalities * $5 million in Bed Tax is generated by visitors * Bed Tax supports local arts, nature, cultural, and sports organizations. * Bed Tax supports capital projects such as the construction of Champions Park, the Cade Museum, and the City of Alachua Event Center. * More than 9200 jobs are supported by tourism in Alachua County
