"The market research report told us the community told us there is a need for East Gainesville support to give them fresh and healthy produce,” said Bailey McClellan with Tourism and Economic Development. “There is a food insecurity occurring in the East Gainesville area and accessibility struggles, and so this project has awareness and it has that lens on for how this could serve the county and keep farmers growing and enter new products, but also address those food insecurity across the county.

​​Honoring the Departed is a ceremony to memorialize indigent individuals who were unclaimed, abandoned, or unknown. The memorial is an opportunity to honor those who were buried with no service. The ceremony will consist of a special invocation and the acknowledgment of those who passed away in 2024.

Alachua County Fire Rescue lieutenant Josh Quijano went to turn on his air conditioning to cool down as the first hot spells began to hit Gainesville. After waiting for the cold to hit, he realized nothing was changing.

Alachua County will analyze map options on Tuesday for dividing the county commission districts, but the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will have to decide on a map at that meeting in order to implement the change for the 2026 elections.

​At an October 7 Special Meeting, the Alachua County Commission asked MV Transportation to quickly provide cost estimates for providing paratransit and Transportation Disadvantaged service outside the city limits of Gainesville and signaled a commitment to continue to provide that service. They also decided to discuss new County Commission district maps at their October 14 meeting.
