Man dies after being run over by a forklift at RV dealership in Alachua County, officers say

Alachua County aims to bolster farmers markets with grants

​The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) voted on Tuesday to reallocate $100,000 in small farmer grants to be used by farmers markets in the county. The vote comes after a survey of eight markets conducted late last year and collecting 338 responses (56 from vendors and 282 from visitors).

Kitchen fire broke out at a camp in Alachua County

​​Crews say the fire spread up the wall and into the attic space of a cabin at Lochloosa Fish Camp in Hawthorne around eight this morning. Officials say they were able to save the building.

Firefighters extinguish fire in Lochloosa Fish Camp cabin

​​At about 8 a.m. on February 3, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Melrose Fire Department, and Cross Creek Fire Department responded to a report of a commercial building fire at Lochloosa Fish Camp. The first arriving unit found a kitchen fire in one of the duplex cabin rentals. The fire had spread up the wall and into the attic space. Crews acted quickly, stopping and extinguishing the fire and saving the structure.
