Animal Control

Municipal Animal Services

Alachua County Animal Resources enforces ordinances and provides services for the all areas of Alachua County only. If you live within county limits, please contact us for service at 352-264-6880.

Managed intake is a system that helps the shelter care for animals safely and effectively. When someone finds a stray animal, we ask that they first file a report on 24PetConnect. After submitting the report, please contact Animal Resources at 352 264 6870 so we can schedule an intake appointment. While we schedule intake when you contact us, same day intake is not always possible. As part of this process, Animal Control Officers do not pick up healthy, friendly stray animals unless there is a safety concern.

For immediate animal emergencies after hours (not healthy strays), call 911. For after hours non-emergencies, contact the Combined Communications Center line at 352-955-1818.

We respond to non-domesticated animal calls involving a bite or attack to a human or an animal, particularly those dealing with raccoons, bats, foxes, and other possible rabies carriers. Animal Control does not respond to nuisance wildlife calls or remove trapped nuisance wildlife. Please go to www.myfwc.com for a list of wildlife trappers in your area.
