The Alachua County Commission will conduct a Special Meeting on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. The meeting begins at 10 a.m., in the Grace Knight Conference Room, located on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 S.E. 1st Street, downtown Gainesville). This meeting includes a review of draft policy revisions for topic areas that were not covered at the December 6, 2018, County Commission Special Meeting, and follow–up on some of the specific issues and questions raised by the Board at the December 4, and 6, Special Meetings on the Comprehensive Plan.
The meeting includes a discussion of draft updates to the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan related to:
- Local foods
- Equity and economic opportunity
- Community health
- Corridor Design Manual
- Utilities and landscaping
- Intergovernmental coordination on annexation
These draft updates relate to various elements of the Plan including the Economic, Future Land Use, Capital Improvements, Public School Facilities, Community Health, Energy, and Intergovernmental Coordination Elements.
This meeting is one of a series of meetings with the County Commissioners that started in 2017, as part of the periodic evaluation and update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. At this meeting, the Commission will discuss and provide direction to staff in preparation for upcoming public hearings by the Alachua County Planning Commission and the County Commissioners on transmittal of proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan for State review in 2019.
