A Community Conversation about Climate Change in Alachua County

Environmental Protection Advisory CommitteeThe Alachua County Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (EPAC) is hosting a community conversation on Climate Change in Alachua County. The discussion will focus on helping the community understand some of the ramifications of action compared to inaction for addressing issues associated with climate change. The discussion is scheduled for Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be held virtually through Zoom, or dial in at 929-205-6099 (Meeting ID: 834 8476 9796). The event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.

The presenter is Bob Tancig with the Climate Reality Project. Bob attended the Los Angeles Climate Reality Leader training and is the Citizens’ Climate Lobby - Gainesville Chapter Co-leader. In that role, he has attended numerous lobby meetings in Washington, DC, and locally, in the offices of both Senate and House of Representatives members. He is also active with the Alachua County Branch NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Committee.

After the presentation, attendees can ask questions to generate additional discussions about climate change issues.

EPAC provides an opportunity for citizen involvement on environmental issues and concerns affecting residents of the County. It advises the Board of County Commissioners on appropriate measures to safeguard air and water resources and responsible public lands and resources management.
