The Alachua County Housing Program has been awarded funding, through the Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF), in the amount of $556,533.00 to assist with back rental, mortgage, and utility payments. This is for assistance to those that can demonstrate direct COVID-19 impacts as the cause of the inability to pay. This assistance is for households in Alachua County, including in the City of Gainesville. Awards are up to $10,000.
All payments will be made to the property owner, utility company, or mortgage company.
This funding is separate from the Alachua County Cares Act program, but CARES Act recipients may apply. The original CARES Act funding was from March 1, 2020, thru September 30, 2020. Those who have continued to have COVID-19 impacts for the months of October, November, and December are urged to apply for these CRF dollars. Also, if you had greater income loss than what you received from the CARES Act, you may be eligible for more.
New applicants can apply for impacts dating back to March 1, 2020.
All applicants must be able to provide proof of hardship due to COVID-19, and must be at, or below, 140% Area Median Income (AMI), per HUD's income limits as listed in the chart below.
Funding may be used retroactively to March 1, 2020, and must be expended by December 30, 2020.
Applications are being accepted thru December 18, 2020, or when funds have been exhausted. Payments will be made to qualified persons on a first-come, first-served basis.
