The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Program for August 2019. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 NE 39 Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609).
Agricultural Finance Workshop – August 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and August 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Farm Service Agency, Farm Credit, Food Resource & Economics Department, and UF/IFAS Extension are partnering to offer this workshop. It is currently the only workshop of its kind offered in north-central Florida.
This two-day workshop will cover financial management concepts with applications for farms and agribusinesses. The intended audience includes farmers and ranchers, as well as professionals engaged with agribusiness finances, but everyone is welcomed to attend.
This training is approved by the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) to fulfill requirements for their borrowers. Workshop topics will include business planning and financing, recordkeeping, budgeting, financial statements, financial ratios, and cash flow analysis. Participants will learn to use these financial tools to manage finances and assist with decision-making.
This is an open event. Attendees do not have to be a FSA borrower to attend. Those who are FSA borrowers must attend both days and earn a passing grade on the exam to receive FSA credit.
The early bird registration (by August 9) is $150 for either day, or $250 for both days. The fee for registration after August 9 is $175 for either day or $275 for both days. The ticket sales end a day prior to the event. The event fee includes materials, refreshments, and lunch for each day. Participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402). There are no refunds for the registration fee.
