The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs for August 2019. These programs are being offered by Dr. Taylor Clem, Environmental and Community Horticulture Agent, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).
Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program Crash Course – August 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Landscapes can be beautiful while conserving water, saving money, and minimizing maintenance. Join the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County’s Environmental & Community Horticulture Agent to learn tips for reducing water, minimizing fertilizer inputs, encouraging pollinators, and protecting our water resources in your landscape by following principles of the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program.
There is no registration fee for this program but participants must register by calling 352-337-6209 (voicemail). It is limited to 50 participants.
Designing a Florida-Friendly Landscape – August 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
This program teaches how to design a Florida-Friendly Landscape. During this workshop, participants learn the concepts of landscape design and are given the opportunity to practice designing a landscape. Base maps will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their property’s survey.
The registration fee is $25.00 and includes materials and snacks. Participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402). It is limited to 25 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fees.
