Hurricane Dorian Update 8-30-19 3:30 p.m.

Hurricane DorianThe Alachua County Commission Special Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. is not canceled. Additionally, Alachua County offices will be open during their regular business hours on Tuesday.

The County also wants to remind residents that tomorrow is the last day to receive sandbags. Sandbags are available for residents today, August 30, until 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Wayside Park (11855 N.W. US 441, Gainesville). There is a limit of 10 bags per person. Sandbags are also available in Gainesville today until 5 p.m. at Public Works (405 N.W. 39th Ave.) and Saturday from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. at Citizens Field (1400 NE 8th Ave.) while supplies last.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the storm. View the latest information about Tropical Storm Dorian from the National Weather Service.

The public will be notified if and when shelters are opened.
