As of the 8 a.m. National Weather Service (NWS) briefing, Alachua County Emergency Management remains cautiously optimistic. NWS reported that Hurricane Dorian is expected to be primarily a coastal event. There is an almost 0% chance of hurricane-force winds in Alachua County. While we are under a Tropical Storm Advisory, the more severe Tropical Storm Watch and Tropical Storm Warning are not forecast to be issued for Alachua County.
County offices will remain open tomorrow. Alachua County Schools, UF, and Santa Fe College are closed tomorrow. The Alachua County School Board has announced that schools will be open Wednesday.
As County staff will remain focused on monitoring the storm and the public may not want to travel to the meeting, the 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 County Commission Special Meeting has been postponed to a future date.
