The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following 4-H Program for January 2019. This program is being offered by Amanda Morgan, 4-H Agent, and the Alachua County Master Gardener Volunteers at the UF/IFAS Extension Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville).
Rain Barrel Workshop and Showcase – January 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Youth between the ages of 5-18 are invited to attend the second annual Rain Barrel Workshop and Showcase. Each youth participant must have a parent to help with constructing the rain barrel. Participants will learn from Master Gardeners about rain barrels and why they are important for the environment. After the class, participants will take their constructed rain barrel home, paint it, and can bring it to the Alachua County Youth Fair and Livestock Show in March (to be showcased). This class is taught by Alachua County Master Gardeners and is an example of STEAM or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
Participants must register online. The registration fee is $15. There are no refunds for registration fees.
