The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs for June 2019. These programs are being offered by the Alachua County Master Gardener Volunteers, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville) unless otherwise indicated.
Perennials & Shrubs for Your Garden – June 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Newberry Branch Library (110 S. Seaboard Drive, Newberry). This program is conducted by Master Gardener Volunteers.
Alachua County Master Gardener volunteers will share perennials and shrubs to introduce into gardens.
There is no registration fee, but participants must register by calling 352-337-6209 (voicemail). The program is limited to 40 participants.
Summer Vegetable Gardening – June 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Conducted by Master Gardener Volunteer.
This program teaches which vegetables can grow in the heat. Other summer strategies such as soil solarization and cover cropping will be discussed.
The registration fee is $10.00 and includes materials. Participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402). It is limited to 40 participants. There are no refunds for the registration fees.
