The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Agriculture and Natural Resources program for May 2021. This program is being offered by Dr. Kevin Korus, Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent.
Corn Disease Diagnostic & Management Training: From the Field to the Lab – May 19, from 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. This is a Zoom webinar.
This class teaches attendees how to recognize corn health issues in the field and provides some helpful tips for confirming diagnoses in the lab. Training topics include basics of plant pathology and plant health diagnostics, recognizing field symptoms, laboratory analysis of corn samples and confirmation of diagnoses, common corn diseases, and management recommendations. Dr. Kevin Korus provides ten years of unique experience working with corn disease management in Nebraska; four of those years were as the Coordinator of the University of Nebraska’s Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic. Continued Education Units will only be awarded to active participants.
The workshop registration fee is $10.00. Participants must
register online. The program is limited to 25 participants. Participants must complete the Zoom registration that will be emailed to them after their Eventbrite purchase to have access to the Zoom meeting. To ensure attendance, poll questions developed via Zoom, will be cast at the end of every major topic. There are no refunds for the registration fee.
There will be an optional (but highly recommended) follow-up course offered in-person during the 2021 growing season in Alachua County.
