The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture Program for May 2019. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez, Commercial Horticulture Agent.
Beekeeping: Honey Extraction & Hive Management – May 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UF Honey Bee Lab (1881 Natural Area Drive, Gainesville).
This class will cover honey extraction from honeybee hives and keeping a healthy hive. Live bees will be used. Participants should dress in protective clothing (closed toe shoes, long sleeves, and bring a beekeeping suit if available).
The registration fee is $15.00 (includes class materials and refreshments). Participants must register online (those needing assistance with registering can call the Extension Office at 352-955-2402) by May 6. This program is limited to 40 participants, and there are no refunds for the registration fee.
Those who would like to be added to the beekeeping ListServ for information about upcoming classes, should send an email to alachua@ifas.ufl.edu, (subject: please add to bee ListServ). This will be the first class to be held at the new honey extraction facility of the Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory.
