Nature and Culture Destination Enhancement Grant Application Available

The Alachua County Commission is seeking applications for the Nature and Culture Destination Enhancement Grant Program. Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Alachua County Visitors and Convention Bureau, 33 North Main Street, Gainesville, Florida, 32601. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

To support and enhance Alachua County as a culturally interesting and vibrant destination, the Alachua County Commission has allocated a portion of the Tourist Development Tax revenue to aid in the operations and promotions of arts, cultural, and nature events that have, as one of their main purposes, the attraction of tourists as evidenced by the promotion of the event to tourists.

“The Nature and Culture Destination Enhancement Grant program supports the marketing and operations efforts of the area’s museums, theatres, galleries, zoos, historical sites, and more,” said Alachua County Tourism Development Manager Jessica Hurov. “Alachua County is proud to support the efforts of these outstanding organizations for the benefit of our visitors and residents alike. We encourage Alachua County organizations planning arts, nature and cultural events and activities to explore the opportunities for funding and marketing support at VisitGainesville.com.”

According to Americans for the Arts, Florida residents are especially likely to agree that the arts have a social impact and improve the quality and livability of their community (76 percent vs. 71 percent nationally), and in Florida, there is consensus when it comes how the arts impact tourism, with about eight‐in‐ten adults in agreement that the arts attract travelers and are good for tourism (82 percent).

All questions must be submitted no later than ten calendar days before the proposal due date. All questions will be answered and posted to the http://VisitGainesville.com website.
