POW/MIA Never Forget Ceremony

American and POW MIA flagsAlachua County Veteran Services, Rolling Thunder Florida Chapter 3, the American Legion and the Department of Veterans Affairs are having a “Never Forget” ceremony on September 21, 2019, starting at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park (7430 S.W. 41st Place, Gainesville) to honor the service members who were Prisoners of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA). After the ceremony, there will be a commemorative motorcycle ride to the American Legion Post 16 (4701 N.W. 6th St, Gainesville), where there will be further ceremonies and barbecue lunch (available for $15.00).

Alachua County Veteran Services Director Kim Davis said, “All are welcome to join us as we take this time to honor the American service members who served our nation while in captivity by the enemy and the over 83,000 American service members who are still unaccounted for from our wars. We will never forget their service and sacrifice.”
