September Commercial Horticulture Program

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture program for September 2023. This program is being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez-Jones, Commercial Horticulture Agent.

Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop – September 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County (437 N.W. Hall of Fame Drive, Lake City) with Erin Harlow, Residential & Commercial Horticulture Agent, UF/IFAS Extension Columbia County

The Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Workshop trains commercial landscape maintenance personnel to make correct pesticide applications to ornamentals and plant beds only. Attendance for the full day is required before sitting for the license exam. Exams are available immediately after the workshop.

Those wanting to take the exam following the class must register online. Click on residential pest control and then “Exam SignUp.” Participants can pay online, and then they will be given a voucher number. Please bring the printed receipt and voucher number on the day of the class. Books are not provided but can be pre-ordered online. It is recommended that the attendee study before attending the workshop, as this is a review. Books required are SM 1, SP 499, and SM 82. 

Continuing Education Units will be available for both the four-hour renewal class or the entire day in the following categories: three General Standard Core, three Ornamental & Turf, three Lawn & Ornamental, three Limited Lawn & Ornamental, three Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance, three Private Applicator, and three Right-Of-Way or two General Standard Core, two Ornamental & Turf, two Lawn & Ornamental, two Limited Lawn & Ornamental, two Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance, two Private Applicator, and two Right-Of-Way.

Individuals seeking recertification may attend the class for four hours if registered. The registration fee is $30.00 (plus $3.85 fee) per person and will include lunch and materials, and participants must register online by September 6. The registration fee after September 6 is $40.00 (plus $4.52 fee).
