Tropical Storm Elsa Update #21 Alachua County Preserves - Hurricane Elsa Trail Closure Update

The Alachua County Preserves sustained impacts from Hurricane Elsa including flooding and trees uprooting on some trails. Staff has assessed trail conditions and re-opened some preserves to public access. For your safety, please respect preserve and trail closures and stay off of closed trail areas.

Preserves CLOSED due to unsafe conditions including extreme flooding and/or hazardous trees:

  • Turkey Creek Preserve
  • Barr Hammock Levy Loop Trailhead

Preserves OPEN but with flooded trail conditions:

  • Phifer Flatwoods Preserve
  • Barr Hammock South Trailhead
  • Lake Alto Preserve
  • Mill Creek Preserve
  • Four Creeks Preserve
  • Sweetwater Preserve (Sweetwater Preserve – West Trail has newly closed sections due to hazard trees and unsafe conditions)

These conditions present additional hazards. It is your responsibility to exercise caution when entering County Preserves.
