The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Commercial Horticulture programs for December 2022. These programs are being offered by Dr. Tatiana Sanchez-Jones, Commercial Horticulture Agent.
2022 Suwannee Valley Watermelon Institute – December 1, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (with Bob Hochmuth, Assistant Center Director/RSA-Vegetables), at the Suwannee River Fair Facility (17851 90 Avenue, Fanning Springs)
The industry exhibitor area is sponsored by watermelon industry suppliers and other allied watermelon industry supporters. Topics include educational sessions and the latest research findings. Continued Education Units will be offered for pesticide applicators.
There is no registration fee; however, participants must
register online.
Research Updates in Organic Vegetable Production Field Day – December 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Plant Research & Education Unit (2556 W. Hwy 318, Citra)
This field day includes updates on the production of organic vegetables in North Central Florida, including nutrients and pest management. There will be presentations, discussions, and a tour of research plots. Participants should bring a hat and jacket.
The registration fee is $5.00 (including lunch). Participants must
register online by December 6. The event is limited to 50 participants. There will be no refunds for the registration fee.
