December Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce the following Environmental and Community Horticulture Programs for December 2018. These programs are offered by the Alachua County Master Gardeners, at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office (2800 N.E. 39th Avenue, Gainesville) unless otherwise indicated.

The Effects of Climate Change on Your Garden – December 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Newberry Library Branch (110 S. Seaboard Drive, Newberry) The workshop is conducted by Susan Nugent, Master Gardener.

This workshop is about the shift in climatic conditions, and the need for landscapes to adapt. Participants will learn how gardens need to shift and adapt to the changing climate.

There is no registration fee, but participants must register by calling 352-337-6209 (voicemail). The workshop is limited to 40 participants.

Edible Decorations and Arrangements – December 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In the midst of the holiday season, using vegetables and fruits from the garden are an excellent way to create decorations or arrangements. Participants will learn tips and secrets to creating edible decorations and arrangements.

Participants must register online. The registration fee is $10 and includes course materials and supplies. The registration deadline is December 7. The workshop is limited to 45 participants, and there are no refunds for registration fees.
